Art Colony 2025.

Exchange program between Slovenia and Serbia as part of 11th Reciklart festival "Electronic waste"

As part of 11th Reciklart (international art festival of recycling and DIY culture), we are also hosting an art colony for art students from universities in Slovenia and Serbia for the first time. The first part will take place in Ljubljana, with a subsequent exchange in Novi Sad.

In the days before the festival, under the guidance of mentors from Slovenia and Serbia, the participants will create works on festival's theme "Electronic Waste". They will have the opportunity to explore materials that are familiar to us all, but after their expiration date and intensive wear, we don't really know what to do with them. The participants will be able to delve into the question of what creative recycling of electronics would look like, and in addition, a space and an excellent opportunity are created to merge new with previous knowledge, and a challenge in the field of one's own creation intertwined with social engagement. The resulting works will thus be presented at a joint exhibition in the Alkatraz gallery, where Reciklart occupies space every year in August.

In addition to the Ljubljana part, the exhibition will also be moved to Novi Sad at the SKC NS (Student Culture Center Novi Sad). During the colony, the participants will also create a group work, which will be donated to the AKC Metelkova mesto community.

The colony also aims to (cross-border) connect visual arts students through collaboration and socializing in the context of researching socially engaged topics that have long transcended the boundaries of countries and smaller communities and require broader engagement, which can be addressed, albeit on a small scale, with projects such as this colony and exhibition.

From Novi Sad is, as she herself would say, an outside institutional artist and redesigner. She has been working and researching in the field of recycling for many years, and has also exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions, including in Ljubljana, at Jalla Jalla last November. She is the person behind the Lavirint art brand, which focuses on the reuse of vintage textiles and is based on the zero waste philosophy.
