As part of the 11th Reciklart (an international art festival of recycling and DIY culture), we hosted an art colony for the first time, aimed at art students from universities in Slovenia and Serbia. The first part took place in Ljubljana, followed by an exchange in Novi Sad.
In the days before the festival, under the guidance of mentors from Slovenia and Serbia, the participants created work on the theme of the festival: “Electronic Waste”. They had the opportunity to explore materials familiar to us all, yet ones we rarely know what to do with once they’ve reached the end of their life. The participants were able to delve into the question of what creative recycling of electronics could actually look like, while also creating space for excellent opportunities to merge new knowledge with prior experience — a challenge in the area of personal practice interwoven with social engagement. The resulting works were presented in a joint exhibition at Galerija Alkatraz, where Reciklart occupies the space every August.
Beyond the Ljubljana programme, the exhibition also travelled to Novi Sad at SKUP (Alliance of Collective Artistic Practice), and during the colony the participants also created a collaborative work, which was donated to the AKC Metelkova Mesto community.
The aim of the colony is also to foster (cross-border) connections among visual arts students through collaboration and socialising in the context of exploring socially engaged topics — topics that have long transcended the borders of individual countries and smaller communities, and call for broader engagement, which we can address, even if on a small scale, through projects such as this colony and exhibition.

After 15 years of working in the field of digital product design, he is again more actively involved in the field of art and culture. As a fine artist, he explores the media of classical and digital drawing, screen printing and lithography, with which he has so far presented himself to the Slovenian and Croatian public. As a designer, he participates in projects and festivals in art and culture in Slovenia and Serbia. He started the project or association “Kunstleraj”, which operates in Ljubljana with its own production and publishing of artwork. Both in the premises of Kunstleraj and on Metelkova, art workshops for youth and an international art colony for art students are held, exhibitions are organized ...
From Novi Sad, she is, as she herself would say, an outside institutional artist and redesigner. She has been working and researching in the field of recycling for many years, exhibiting in numerous solo and group exhibitions, including in Ljubljana, at Jalla Jalla. She is the person behind the Lavirint art brand, which focuses on the reuse of vintage textiles and is based on the zero waste philosophy.
